How to Turn Off Waze Popup in Spotify

UPDATE 2019 – It looks like Spotify has made changes so that the instructions below do not work anymore! But I think the popups are gone though so it doesn’t seem to be a big issue for me. I’d recommend you update your Spotify to the latest.

If you’re a Spotify Premium (or free) user like me, and if you listen to Spotify on the car, you may have noticed this annoying Waze nag screen asking you to install and integrate Waze.

I’ve tried the Waze app and I’m not convinced if it will replace Google Maps for my use so I decided not to use it. However, the nag screen kept reappearing every time I was on the car, driving. It’s super annoying and also dangerous if you ask me.

Anyway, here’s the steps I took to turn off the integration/popup:

  1. Install Waze
  2. Open Spotify
  3. Go to Your Library and click the cog icon on the top right for Settings
  4. Scroll down to Waze navigation ‘Enable the Waze integration’
  5. Turn this off to disable the Waze integration

Hope this helps someone. I personally don’t think they need to push this feature too hard – there are many, many complaints on the Spotify forum and the Spotify staff aren’t really responsive to this issue at all.

Thanks — one step missing: after hitting the cogwheel: scroll down to “Social” and then scroll to stop Waze integration.
